Welcome to i-Decon 2026

The “National Conference on Design and Concurrent Engineering” (DECON) was first organized by the Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering (FKP) in 2006 and 2008 at the national level. The conference was later upgraded to an international platform as the “International Conference on Design and Concurrent Engineering” (i-DECON), which was held in Melaka in 2010, 2012, and 2014.

In 2015, the conference was jointly organized in collaboration with the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Tokushima University–UTeM Academic Centre in Tokushima. Subsequent conference venues included Langkawi (2016), Osaka (2017), Kuching (2018), and Sendai (2019). The conference was conducted virtually in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic before continuing in 2023 with Keio University as the host institution. In 2024, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka served as the main venue for the conference, followed by Doshisha University in Kyoto in 2025

The conference has successfully established active collaborative networks among local and international researchers, particularly in activities related to the advancement of the manufacturing industry. The success of this conference organization is in line with the objective of further enhancing the reputation and visibility of the university and faculty at both national and international levels.

In September 2023, the Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering (FKP) merged with the Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Technology (FTKMP) and was restructured under a new name, the Faculty of Industrial and Manufacturing Technology and Engineering (FTKIP). The organization of this conference has since been continued by FTKIP, further expanding collaborative networks through this 13th edition of the international conference. i-Decon will serve as an excellent platform for discussing the latest research developments, particularly in the fields of design and manufacturing industries.
